A police officer at the scene of a fatal stabbing on a Canadian bus reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police tape leaked on the Internet Saturday. A previously unrecorded 1943-S Lincoln cent erroneously struck on a bronze planchet has been acquired by Rare Coin Wholesalers of Dana Point, Calif.
"The coin was found in 1944 by Kenneth S. Wing Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., who was assembling a set of Lincoln cents at the time," said Steven L. Contursi, president of Rare Coin Wholesalers.
Wing became a prominent Southern California architect who co-designed the Long Beach Arena in the late 1950s. He died in 1996.

Britain’s security services have identified Russia as the third most serious threat facing the country, it has emerged before Gordon Brown’s first meeting with President Medvedev.
Security officials say that only al-Qaeda terrorism and Iranian nuclear proliferation are greater menaces to the country’s safety than Russia. Klaus Fuchs, a refugee German physicist, and Communist Party member, was employed by the United Kingdom atomic energy program during World War II, and was sent to work on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. Fuchs was a gifted physicist who made major contributions to the Manhattan Project in the theory of gaseous diffusion cascades, and in implosion theory.

Fully restored in 2004 and released in the U.S. by Rialto Pictures, it represents the gold standard of films about the French Resistance, based upon Joseph Kessel's 1943 novel and imbued with personal touches by Melville, an Alsatian Jew whose own involvement in the Resistance qualifies Army of Shadows as a semi-autobiographical exercise in somber nostalgia, as indicated by an opening quote echoing Melville's ironic belief that memories of Nazi occupation needn't always be traumatic.

In an effort to make Virgin Galactic the first private company to offer tours in space, British billionaire Richard Branson unveiled a mothership he hopes will carry SpaceShipTwo, a passenger spaceship. Still, there was no sign of the spaceship itself, in a project that has been mired by delays.
Branson, along with American aerospace designer Burt Rutan, displayed White Knight Two, renamed "Eve" after Branson's mother, at the Mojave Air and Space port in the desert near Los Angeles.

Autopsies usually point to a cause of death, but now a study of brain tissue collected during these procedures may explain an underlying cause of major depression and suicide, according to University of Western Ontario researcher.
This international study is the first to show that proteins that modify DNA directly are more highly expressed in the brains of people who commit suicide.

A British man accused of hacking into the computer systems of the U.S. military and NASA lost his appeal today against extradition to the U.S. where he will stand trial.
Gary McKinnon, 42, attempted to appeal his transfer to the U.S. to be tried for what has been called "the biggest military hack of all time" by taking his case to Britain's highest court, the House of Lords.

Leaders in the northern Chicago suburb of Wilmette have repealed the village's handgun ban.The seven village trustees voted Tuesday on the measure. Their decision comes after the U.S. Supreme Court declared the handgun ban in Washington D.C. unconstitutional.Unlike other suburbs, such as Oak Park, Morton Grove and Evanston, Wilmette officials say they believe they weren't sued by the National Rifle Association because the village stopped enforcing the 1989 ban after the high court ruling.
