SPECIAL SEX AND THE CITY THEME!
Today is a special theme, SEX AND THE CITY. The importance of the show is that it shows a formula first developed decades ago in the classic film THE WOMEN, still works. SEX AND THE CITY went a step further by incorporating the city itself as a character. Now men, before you look away from this theme or email it to your girlfriends unread, look this over. was cast in THE MISANTHROPE and I went to a preview performance and lo and behold Miss Cattrall came out wearing heels, silk stockings, garters and garter belt, and the rest was magnetic as well. I knew at that moment I had to meet her. When I spoke to Del after the show he agreed to help set up an introduction for me. He also spoke me up to her. BONUS!
I went to the opening night and follow up party. I spoke to Peter Falk who was also in the play a good while and finally she entered.
First of all she remains one of the finest onstage actresses I have ever seen. If you ever have the chance to see her live, do so.
As she entered she smiled and was an immediate magnet for everyone in the room, but she stepped over to Del. And he walked her to me.

WHAT IS THE SECRET TO SEX AND THE CITY?
Even Marge Simpson has recognised the secret to Sex and the City. "That's the show about four women acting like gay guys," she said in a recent episode of The Simpsons. She's always been a thinker, that Marge.
Entering its sixth season, Sex and the City has been analysed from every perspective. It has sparked debate, for example, about the sexual freedom of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and the lusty Samantha. Its frank language, catalogue of comical sexual perversions and emphasis on male romantic ineptitude have also attracted attention.
But much of the interest has focused on what Sex and the City says about single women, even four of the most upscale designer-label-and-new-restaurant-hungry females ever to appear in a television comedy.

I first saw Sarah Jessica Parker in the teen show, SQUARE PEGS. If you have never seen the show, you should. Way hipper and scoring higher ratings than SAVED BY THE BELL, the show was taken off the air after 19 episodes when TV Guide reported wide spread drug use on the set. The episode with DEVO remains a cult classic, as does the episode Bill Murray did as the cool substitute teacher.
She had a part in FOOTLOOSE and was in GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN and had been a singer and actress onstage as well. It was the movie ED WOOD with Johnny Depp, perhaps the greatest actor of this time, that convinced me she was a great actress.
Cynthia Nixon met Parker in a theatre group they were both in but is probably more known for her role in the show and her personal life. She divorced her husband and later fell in love with a woman. This came out during the run of the show, but she was quick to confirm the rumors.

When rumors of a sex tape surfaced Kirstin became the most googled name, no one however apparently typed in photos instead of video! Clearly her portrayal of the young innocent in search of the perfect love is acting!
How has the show done financially?
Ironically, though, the woman who started it all, Candace Bushnell, hasn't profited nearly as much. Bushnell turned her "Sex and the City," column in the New York Observer into a bestselling book of the same name.
Soon after, Bushnell sold HBO the rights for six figures, but didn't share in the upside. Not that she's done badly. First published in 1997, Bushnell's book has sold more than 260,000 copies since 2001. Meanwhile, the show instantly became one of HBO's highest-rated attractions when it launched in June 1998.

So I went to meet Kim at her hotel and she was beautiful. I was dressed like a punk rocker with my biker jacket! She was kind, warm and gracious- and there was a guy with her!
So we go to a bar nearby for drinks and he follows but doesn't say anything.
NOTHING.
After a couple and talking about what kind of food she likes I ask who he is.
It turns out, he is the bodyguard. BODYGUARD?
It seems a guy had followed her to Chicago that she didn't know. A stalker. He was believed to be sleeping in the park and had broken into the Goodman, and written a letter in blood threatening her and left it on the desk of the theatre director.
That shook me up. Today I have met rappers like Nas with entourages and body guards but I had no idea what to do or say to that scene then.
So the date became very awkward on my side. There was dinner, a walk around the loop and a kiss, but that was that and I never called her back. Like so many characters on the show! You don't have to be famous to be stalked, this article has some good ideas on how to deal with stalkers.

The Buddhist Mummies Of Japan!
Strange though it may sound, one of the best known supernatural monsters in Japan are kitsune -- foxes. There are many legends from all over the country that tell of their secret lives and magical talents. Tales tell of their ability to cast illusions and change form, and of their mischevious -- and sometimes dangerous -- need to interfere with humans. Foxes are so well known in Japan that they often appear in children's books, TV shows, comics, and movies as stock characters.
This island, also known as Juan Fernández Island, is located in the archipelago of Juan Fernández, 414 miles off the coast of South America. It owes its name to the story of the shipwreck of Alexander Selkirk, immortalized in the famous novel "Robinson Crusoe', by Daniel Defoe.
True to its description in the story, the island is a fascinating lost paradise, with an endemic flora and fauna that is unknown in other latitudes. Seventy percent of the plant species in the island are endemic, and you may see the Juan Fernández fur seal or the Juan Fernandez firecrown, both unique to this area.
The archipelago is currently a World Biosphere Reserve.

 Bob Dylan's birthday was on May 24. I've had a few people ask me, "What's up with all the Bob Dylan?" Well, he is Bob Dylan, our greatest living songwriter. Even well into his sixties he continues to write songs as good or better than anyone else. In fact, he may he just be hitting his stride. The last three records contain some of his best songs. Anyway, trying to explain to someone "What's so good about Bob Dylan?" is like trying to explain "What's so good about the pyramids?" My friend Mike says we don't even know how good he is. What he means is - that after we're all dead and gone, people are still gonna be listening to Bob Dylan and talking about his songs - just like someone's gonna be reciting Hamlet's soliloquy somewhere in some production in some park 500 years after the fact. We are not going to listen to Bob Dylan's songs today, rather we're gonna listen to the songs he liked enough to record or make a pass at, at some studio session, hotel room, or in a basement with other like minded souls. Devi, 38, was slain outside her home when she returned home for lunch from a session of the lower house of Parliament, Home Minister L. K. Advani told legislators. Her security guard was wounded. According to legend, Devi - the daughter of a low-caste family in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh - was sold into marriage at age 11, fled her brutal husband and fell in love with a highway robber.
Her lover was killed by upper-caste men from the village of Behmai who took her prisoner and raped her repeatedly. She escaped, formed her own gang and in 1981 returned to the village for revenge. On her orders, gang members mowed down 22 upper-caste men with machine-gun fire. Devi portrayed the 10-year rebellion that followed as a caste struggle in one of India's most backward regions, where upper-caste Hindus routinely preyed on members of the lower castes. India has long had a caste structure in which birth dictates stature.

A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all around the place. The monkey grabs some olives off the bar and eats them, then grabs some sliced limes and eats them, then jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone's amazement, somehow swallows it whole.
The bartender screams at the guy, "Did you see what your monkey just did?"
The guy says "No, what?"
He just ate the cue ball off my pool table-whole!"
"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied the guy, "he eats everything in sight, the little bastard. Sorry. I'll pay for the cue ball and stuff." He finishes his drink, pays his bill, pays for the stuff the monkey ate, then leaves.
Two weeks later he's in the bar again, and has his monkey with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again. While the man is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it. Then the monkey finds a peanut, and again sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it.
The bartender is disgusted.
"Did you see what your monkey did now?" he asks.
"No, what?"replies the guy.
"Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry and a peanut up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!" said the bartender.
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied the guy. "He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he had to poop out that cue ball, he measures everything first."
